The Dr. Jose N. Rodriquez Memorial Hospital (DJNRMH) is now a Level 3 (Tertiary) General Hospital as of January 2012.

It has a dual role of catering to general care patients and hansen patients.

Formerly known as Central Luzon Sanitarium, DJNRMH was established in 1940, to accommodate patients suffering from Hansen's Disease in the entire Luzon region in the Philippines. It is currently situated within the district of Tala, in Caloocan City, Metro Manila, and occupies 130 hectares of land area, from the original 808 hectares. Reduction of land area is to accommodate previous homeless treated patient and eventually settled and established their own community, called Tala.
In 1970, the hospital began treating general medical cases (non-Hansen disease patients) when there was a high success rate of treatment of the first Hansen patients from    research and the advancement of procedures done within the current medical practice. Due to the significant drop of Hansen patients the hospital then considered admission of general cases.The hospital currently serve as the principal referral hospital for leprosy patients and the premier training and research center for leprosy care and management in the Philippines. It also serves the public health needs of community members of Tala and nearby areas.
To date, The hospital is now a Tertiary Level 3 General Hospital effective January 1, 2012, with Tertiary Level Clinical Laboratory and Pharmacy, Level 2 Diagnostic X-Ray Services and 1, 900 authorized beds for Sanitarium services.

RNheals at DJNRMH

The Registered Nurse for Health Enhancement and Local Servcies (RNheals) is now on its fourth year of implementation as one of the programs of Department of Health to address the concerns of fluctuating number of newly registered nurses. This will allow the nurses to have a clinical exposure that will serve as their training. In Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital (DJNRMH), it have accomodated the second batch of RNheals nurses composed of 152 nurses from the pool of previous nurse trainees in the institution and other applicants outside the hospital. The program have started last January 2, 2013 and will end on December 31, 2013. For those who will be able to complete the prescribed number of training hours will receive a Certificate of Competencies for Level I and II; and they are possible candidates to pursue another training program to be provided by DOH for the Level III and Level IV Competencies.
